Christian Store takes its music stock electronic BY CHRIS MAYHEW | COMMUNITY RECORDER STAFF WRITER ALEXANDRIA - A local Christian bookstore has brought in an electronic kiosk to help customers burn their own compact discs of Christian music. Customers use a touch screen computer to choose their songs on Logos Bookstore's new "MyMedia Burn Bar and My Media Listening Station" that was installed in May. It eliminates the need for asking the store to special order a compact disc, said Marie Prickett of Alexandria, who owns the store with her husband Steve. There's no need to bring a blank CD, that's provided, and the downloaded songs can be carried home from the store. So far, the kiosk accesses more than 2,264 albums and 7,400 songs. It's updated every night, and there are also some audio books and interactive Bible software too. Everything from the latest pop-sytlized Christian music hits to background music is available for downloading. "There's a section for accompaniment tracks, which is what people sing to in churches, " Prickett said. To burn a full album, the cost is usually between $13 and $17, or about the same as buying one in a store. The convenience and imediate availability of specific music has made Mike Fyynn, the preaching minister at Grassy Creek Christian Church in Demossville, a regular user of the music kiosk. He's downloaded everything from Stephen Curtis Chapman's "Cinderella" to "Praise you in the Storm" by Casting Crowns. Flynn said he often wants a particular song right away for use in a service, and now he doesn't have to wait for any song. "You walk in the store and walk out with them, and it's a really easy service to use," he said.
